In the history of peoples there are moments in which the word “change” has a particular meaning. I think that in relation to the 14-F elections, we are in Catalonia in one of them. It is no coincidence that this statement appears in the campaign slogans of PSC and Comuns. One, pointing out that we need it, another, that we deserve it. And Catalonia certainly needs it and deserves it . Joan Coscubiela expressed it these days with an expressive statement: “reconduction or decline” . Two essential questions arise. One is certainly what a change, but it is not enough. There is and will certainly be a discussion of what we want, how we would like the country to advance, how to advance proposals and political management to make them a reality.
A dose of utopia and then a project for the immediate future, an essential path for a more distant future. Considering the relationship, “correlation”, of forces in presence, social, political, economic,…, national and international forces,… Those that exist and those that are potential. Those that do not depend on us and also AOL Email List those that depend or can depend on us. Participation in the very diverse forms of social mobilization is a way to influence them. But there are special moments in which our capacity for influence, individually and collectively, is greater. Today, the elections to government institutions are one of these moments . It is evident that Catalonia needs and deserves a change to overcome the stage we have experienced in recent years, a stage of blockade and paralysis, of citizen rupture, of Catalan-style Trumpism, of institutional incompetence. Let's discuss what change, and, also and imperatively, who should pilot it, what political force or forces should and can lead it from the institutions, Parliament and Government.
That is what the next elections to the Parliament of Catalonia are about on February 14, a definitive date. Surely all political organizations would like to achieve an absolute majority, although they all know that there cannot be many with more than 50%. But, as Lluis Rabell rightly points out in a recent article , “it is better to resort to algebraic formulas… than to try to apply the rules of arithmetic.” It is about achieving an effective number of deputies, but not only, also the sufficient strength of organizations that can assume a coherent government project capable of facing the problems of the moment. Now I understand that there is no other formula for change than a political sum, that of the PSC and Comuns, adding deputies and synthesizing political.
